Life must go on in Gaza and Sderot
This blog is written by 2 friends. One lives in Sajaia refugee camp in Gaza and the other lives in Sderot, a small town near Gaza on the Israeli side. There is ongoing violence between Israel and Gaza which has intensified greatly since October 2000. Many have been [...]

Sderot/Gazastreifen
Januar 7th, 2009 · Keine Kommentare

‘Holy cats’
November 21st, 2008 · 2 Kommentare
In many places in Tel Aviv you will find yourself surrounded by cats. Cats are anywhere and everywhere, and especially the spacious, beautiful front yards smell like a giant cat’s litter box during the hot summer months. At least when cats have moved in there, of course.
Around 50 cats, if not more, called George Eliot [...]

Hemp and Marx in Hebrew
Oktober 29th, 2008 · Keine Kommentare
Last night I leafed through the taz when my tired glance noticed on page 22 that in light of the current financial crisis Karl Marx’s ‘Capital’ is making a comeback.
On the same page a taz-event was announced – the book presentation “Hemp!” by Mathias Bröckers.
Today in the tazcafe at 19:30.
This inspired me to the following [...]

The wild mixture
Oktober 29th, 2008 · 1 Kommentar
In my post ” ‘die taz’ in Tel Aviv” of September 12, 2008 I wrote about the multi-faceted scenery of Tel Aviv mailboxes.
The exterior of most of the mailboxes in Tel Aviv is multi-faceted. Ever since I made my mailbox discovery I constantly keep my eyes open for them. Israeli mailboxes are objects that are [...]

From November 3 through November 7, 2008 I’m going to present photos of Tal who is a fantastic photographer in my opinion. She lives in Tel Aviv.
My eyes were attracted to her photos, they appealed to my senses and after I had fallen hopelessly in love with her photography, I feel happy to have met [...]

מולדת
Oktober 17th, 2008 · Keine Kommentare
First I head the idea to show the photo with the word מולדת- pronounced ‘Moledet’ – which means ‘Home’ without any explanation. Just let the letters, the word will speak for itself.
Then a thought struck me, not even ten seconds had passed and more and more thoughts were adding up, and it quickly became clear [...]

I am back in Berlin. It is cold and I miss Tel Aviv.
Walking barefoot across the apartment’s marble floor, wandering through the streets, accompanied by the sun and surrounded by warmth 24 hours a day. The language, the people, the conversations with all their drama that is sometimes hard to be beat, the architecture, the [...]

Toothache in Tel-Aviv? – I have an idea
Oktober 13th, 2008 · Keine Kommentare
I told Yael, who is from Israel and conveniently lives in my neighborhood, that I needed to keep my ears open where I could rent an electric piano.
For quite some time I have been taking piano lessons with a great teacher from Lithuania. She is unique and I feel very fortunate to have met her.

There are Mean People in this City
Oktober 5th, 2008 · 1 Kommentar
At almost every corner in the center of Tel Aviv, especially in the south, you’ll run into graffiti.
If you keep your eyes open, you’ll soon realize that this city is pretty much covered with graffiti. Some of the artists are so egocentric that they won’t stop before every nook and cranny bears their marks.
On the [...]

On my way with 32 toilet paper rolls – at night
September 27th, 2008 · Keine Kommentare
A few days ago on my way home at night I needed to buy some toilet paper rolls. Nothing easier than that.
I walked from the ‘Florentine’ area along ‘Nachlat Benyamin’ and before long I found myself in a supermarket searching for the appropriate shelf when it downed on me – I had already encountered that [...]
